Celebrate Orange County and win a prize
Goshen Every year, Orange County Day celebrates the county’s many natural and cultural attractions, holding contests along the way to get residents involved. This year, Orange County Day is asking for recipes and slogans. For the farmers market recipe contest, Orange County residents may submit their best vegetable recipe made from produce bought at their favorite local farmer’s market. Not only does buying local help sustain local farms, fresh vegetables make tasty and nutritious additions to the table, the Orange Day organizers point out. Farm markets and community markets are listed at www.orangetourism.org. Prizes will go to top winners based on the originality and flavor of the dish. Call Orange County Tourism at 291-2136 for an application form. Only one entry per person will be accepted. For the Orange County slogan contest, residents are invited to describe the county in 10 words or less, slogan-style. Entrants should send their slogans with their names and phone numbers to: tourism@co.orange.ny.us, or mail to Orange County Tourism, 124 Main St., Goshen, N.Y. 10924. Entries for both contests must be received by July 15. Prizes are sponsored by Woodbury Common Premium Outlets, Iron Forge Inn Restaurant, Brotherhood Winery, Gillinder Glass Factory, and the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame in Goshen. Orange County Tourism reserves the right to publish winning entries and the names of people who submitted them. For more information, call the tourism office at 291-2136. Orange County Day falls on Sunday, June 10, this year, a time to celebrate the home turf with special offers from museums, boat cruises, wineries, and other local attractions. Orange County Day is sponsored by County Executive Edward A. Diana, the County of Orange, and Orange County Tourism.
