Celebrate 'Fiesta Latina' this Saturday at Museum Village in Monroe

— On Saturday, Sept. 16, the third annual Hudson Valley Fiesta Latina at Museum Village will take place in Monroe. It is both a day of national pride and celebration of Latino culture.
ShopRite, Walden Savings Bank, SUNY Orange, Orange Regional Medical Center, American Cancer Society, Linea Informativa with Rubén and Barbara JUAN 95.7 FM, La Super Latina FM, Coke Cola, Hudson Valley Renegades, Middletown Medical, Faith in Motion, United Health Group and Orange & Rockland Utilities, Inc., are among the local sponsors.
Feel the warmth of Latin culture as live salsa music fills the air.
A variety of fun-filled activities and games are planned, along with appearances by noted speakers, book giveaways, vendors and more. This free event will run from 10 a.m. until to 6 p.m. on the Museum Village grounds. Parking is free.
'A celebration of history, family, faith and country'Fiesta Latina promises to be an exhibition of hallmark Latin culture as legendary Latino icon and Latin recording artists “Cuboricua” will be performing.
Additional music will be provided by the traditional Musica Tipica by Los Caribenos, Mariachi Viva Mexico, Latin Groove and others.
“The Fiesta Latina is a celebration of American history promoting family, faith, and country," said Rubén Estrada, the chairman of Hudson Valley Fiesta Latina at Museum Village. "Sharing the goals of the 19th Century living history of Museum Village, this gathering will provide an experience of history and culture to provoke thought, discussion, and educational enrichment. Moreover, we wish to encourage and promote American History within the newly arriving Latino immigrant community.”
Essential informationFamilies are encouraged to come and bring children who will be able to learn all about Latin culture and American history. Face painting will be a featured activity and refreshments will be on hand.
In a gesture of community concern, Orange County Sheriff’s Office will be issuing free Safe Child Cards for those children in attendance.
Proceeds from “Fiesta Latina” are to benefit the Museum Village and The Food Pantry at Iglesia Ebenezer Pentecostal in Middletown.
