Celebrate Christmas with the Air Pirates

| 26 Nov 2013 | 10:22

— The Air Pirates embrace the Christmas spirit with one of their trademark comedy mysteries, "The Christmas Special: It Ain't Such a Wonderful Life," a holiday mystery from the Herb Marks Freelance series.

Performing for the first time in two new venues, the Pirates will be at Brothers Barbeque in New Windsor on Dec. 7 and at the Meadows in Middletown on Dec. 14.

The holidays are not Herb's favorite time of year. Even though he'd rather hide out until the festivities are over, he finds himself embroiled in a retail nightmare. As always, the audience will be supplying the sound effects for these live radio theater performances.

Here's how it works.
The Air Pirates Radio Theater begins with four actors portraying all the characters in original radio scripts and audiences making all the sound effects, crowd noise and any other noise needed. Prior to the performance, the audience is auditioned and given all the necessary props and a review of what they are to do. The Cue Card Girl lets the audience know when it's time to slam a door, make the footsteps and even shoot the guns (props, thank you) during the shows. The audience also supplies sound effects for the commercials in the broadcast.

The Air Pirates Radio Theater cast includes MaryLee Shorr, Brian Nieves, Alan Andrews, Kate Brannan, and Lindsey Graham and of course the audience.

Listeners can go to the Web site http://www.airpirateradio.com to hear podcasts of the live shows or download the episodes.

"We are heard in exotic places like England, Turkey and Texas," said Paul Ellis, producer/director. "If you're looking for something different and are not afraid to be part of the action, The Air Pirates are ready for you to join the show."

The Air Pirate are at Brothers Barbeque on Route 32 in New Windsor on Dec. 7; on Dec. 14 they are at The Meadows, 270 Schutt Road in Middletown. All performances are at 8 p.m. and tickets are $20.
