Calling artists to Pine Island
Pine Island - Once again, the Pine Island School Harvest Moon Festival on Friday, Oct. 13, will hold an art show highlighting “ the beauty and bounty of our agricultural Black Dirt region where our school is located,” Principal Jane Hamburger said. Organizers are looking for artwork in any medium which represents the Black Dirt landscape or its harvest, including three-dimensional art, by local artists, teachers, and Warwick Valley students of all ages. Artwork will be displayed throughout the halls and stage area of Pine Island Elementary School, beginning the night of the Harvest Moon Festival and remain on display for the month of October. The artwork can be dropped off at Pine Island School no later than Wednesday, Oct. 11, and should be mounted or framed, ready for hanging or ready to be placed on a flat surface for display. Some of the artwork will be for sale. If you are interested in either donating your work or giving a partial donation to the PTA, the funds will be used for the beauty and bounty of the children’s school yard and gardens. If you are considering the sale of your artwork, please include the price you would consider appropriate. Exhibiting artists and their family are also invited to prepare a potluck version of the agricultural bounty to share at the Harvest Table and join us at the Festival and Art Show opening on that Friday night, beginning at 5 p.m. For more information, questions, or a registration form, contact Mena Messina Genetti at 258-1348 or Pine Island School at 987-3190.
