Warwick — Preschoolers do it — Matisse did it — now participants in collage artist Laura Breitman’s class can have a chance to do it, too. Breitman, whose work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Art and Design, and has been published in Smithsonian Magazine, will be giving a two-day fabric collage workshop at her studio in Warwick, N.Y., on March 10 and 11. Space will be limited to 12 participants. Fifty percent of all profits will be donated to the Orange County Land Trust. “My husband, photographer Michael Needleman, and I feel very strongly about preserving open space, especially in Orange County, which has been the inspiration for both his work and mine since we moved here in the early 70’s,” Breitman said. “People have been asking me to give workshops for many years and I thought this would be a great opportunity to raise money for a good cause while teaching people my photorealistic collage technique at the same time.” The workshop includes all materials, lunches, and morning and afternoon refreshments. The fee is $225. To get an application or for more information, e-mail the artist at breitman@optonline.net or call her studio at 845-258-4796.
