Bodles to present bluegrass and gospel
Chester A trio of women will perform their own style of bluegrass and old gospel tunes at Bodles Opera House in Chester on Sept. 8. These three women share a love of roots Americana music and pack a variety of instruments to accompany themselves: Red Molly-Laurie MacAllister, guitar and banjo; Abbie Gardner, dobro and guitar; and Carolann Solebello, guitar, bass, mandolin. They sing in three-part harmony on old-time American songs from artists such as award-winning Alison Krause and Gillian Welch. Each one brought a rich musical background and albums of their own before forming the group in 2004 after the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival in the Massachusetts Berkshires. The trio has performed in venues such as the Outpost in the Burbs in Montclair, N.J., and the Towne Crier in Pawling, N.Y., and released their first recording together. They have opened for artists such as Aztec Two-Step, Cliff Eberhardt and Johnsmith. Red Molly’s latest, “Never Been to Vegas,” was recorded at Bennett Studios in Englewood, N.J. The trio take the Bodles stage at 8 p.m.; doors open at 6:30. For tickets, $15, call 469-4595 or visit www.bodles.com.
