Blues festival in downtown Chester July 29
CHESTER — The 11th Annual Bill Perry Day Blues Festival, to be held this year on July 29, has moved to 47 Main Street, Historic Downtown Chester. Local and regional musicians will perform from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This event is free, family oriented and open to the entire community. Bring your dancing feet and a chair or blanket, and plan to stay the day.
Bill Perry was an internationally acclaimed blues-rock guitarist who lived in the Chester area most of his life until his passing in 2007. The day in his honor will be filled with drumming, blues and rock music. The Floyd Hicks ”Little Sun” with Spirit of the Mountain Drum Singers will open the celebration ceremonial drumming at 11:30 p.m. The host of participating local blues musicians includes Don Singerhouse, Fred and Brad Schribner, Dan Brother, Rambling Reddan Review and Slam Allen. Many of these were inspired by, played and or toured with Bill Perry.
Clayton Delaney's, Christopher's Bistro, Rustic Wheelhouse, American House Ice Cream, Rushing Duck Brewing and Long Lot Brewery will sell food and drinks.
In addition, the Bill Perry scholarship, awarded to a local music student who has shown excellence and to encourage the recipient’s ongoing pursuit of music, will be awarded at 3 p.m.
