Blues and comedy come to Bodles this weekend

Chester—Bodles Opera House in Chester has a full weekend of arts and entertainment, featuring a classic ’60s pop band, blues music, comedy, and music with a local flavor. July 14 at 9 p.m. Bodles presents Little Sammy Davis, a veteran blues harmonica player and a frequent guest on Don Imus’ radio show. Tickets are $10; doors open at 6:30 p.m. Then on Saturday, July 15, HotFlash and the WhoreMoans, the Bodles All-Star Orchestra performs a comedic musical variety show on the ups and downs of getting older. Dinner and the show costs $27.95; doors open at 6:30 p.m. The show starts at 8:30 p.m. On July 16 Bodles presents the Searchers, whose hits include “Needles and Pins,” “Don’t Throw Your Love Away,” and “What Have They Done to the Rain.” The opening group for the evening will be local New York-New Jersey band the Roost. The show starts at 7 p.m.; doors open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $40. More local talent comes to Bodles July 17. The Heavy Pets started out at Goshen High School. Now, with about 400 gigs to bank on, the group is a mainstay at concerts in South Florida. They competed with 350 other bands and won one of six slots to perform alongside Ben Harper, the Black Crowes, the Flaming Lips and others at the 2006 Langerado Music Festival.
