WARWICK — A free community forum featuring the documentary “Being Mortal,” sponsored by Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties and the Parkinson’s Disease & Movement Disorders Support Group of Warwick will be held on Thursday, May 17, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Warwick.
Physician and author Atul Gawande will shares stories from the perspective of both as a physician and the people and families he encounters, including in his own in his book, “Being Mortal.”
The documentary addresses on how the health care system focuses on a cure and neglects the conversations that need to happen so that a person’s priorities can be known and honored, according to organizers.
A panel discussion will follow with hospice’s associate medical director and members of the hospice care team.
Refreshments will be served.
