Bassoonist to perform at academy
West Point The United States Military Academy Band continues its Chamber Music Recital Series with a bassoon performance by Master Sergeant Chris Eberle, at West Point’s Jewish Chapel, on Sunday, April 29 at 3 p.m. The recital will include a number of selections that feature the bassoon within various chamber ensemble settings. After opening with Mikhail Glinka’s Trio for Clarinet, Bassoon, and Piano, Eberle will perform Georg Philip Telemann’s Quartet in D minor for Flute, Oboe, Bassoon and Basso Continuo. Finally, Eberle will conclude the concert with Johannes Brahms’ Trio in A minor for Clarinet, Cello and Piano. Master Sgt. Eberle, originally from Kansas City, Missouri, earned his Bachelor of Music from the New England Conservatory of Music. He is a frequent soloist with the U.S. Military Academy Band and is a founding member of the Academy Wind Quintet. He has been a regular performer in numerous ensembles throughout the tri-state region, including the Pone Ensemble for New Music, Hudson Valley Philharmonic, Newburgh Chamber Symphony, Rockland County Choral Society, Orange County Classic Choral Society and Nutmeg Opera Company. Like all of the band’s performances, this recital is free and open to the public. Allow extra travel time for the 100% vehicle and photo I.D. inspection at Stony Lonesome and Thayer gates.
