MIDDLETOWN — SummerStar Theatre will complete it’s 2012 season with “The Last Five Years” by Jason Robert Brown this October on the Orange Hall Theatre stage Middletown campus of SUNY Orange.

Brown’s contemporary musical tells the story of two twenty-something New Yorkers who dive head first into a marriage fueled by the optimism that comes with finding “the one.” But in a city where professional and personal passions collide and only the strongest relationships survive, navigating the waters of love and matrimony can sometimes prove too much. Funny, honest and intimate, with an exuberantly romantic score, “The Last Five Years” takes a bold look at one young couple’s hope that love endures the test of time.

Auditions for the production will be held Saturday, June 30, at 3 p.m. and Sunday, July 1, at 6 p.m. at Orange Hall Theatre. Director Jim Quinlan is looking to cast one male (should read 20s-early 30s), and one female (should read 20s-early 30s).

According to the press release announcing the auditions, “both roles require excellent vocal control, although not operatic. The male will require raw rock style vocalizations, the female requires a strong soprano Broadway voice with some belting. Come prepared with a ballad and an up-tempo song that shows range. No dancing required.”

Essential information Performance dates are October 5-6-7-12-13-14.
