Auction and dinner-dance to benefit children's fund
Middletown The Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund will be hosting a silent auction and dinner dance at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Kuhl’s Highland House in Middletown. Supporters who have attended previous auctions by the fund know they can expect to bid on items like exclusive vacation packages, rare sports memorabilia, tickets to TV shows, sporting event seats and many others. Jerry Gallagher, chairman of the Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund Silent Auction exclaimed “Many people refrain from holiday shopping until after our auction.” Major sponsors for the auction are The Castle Fun Center in Chester, Horizon Medical Group, Provident Bank and Northwestern Mutual Financial Network-Dan O’Brien. Local artisans and merchants continue to support the children’s fund. The auction commences at 6 p.m. with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. Bidding will proceed throughout the evening. A four-course dinner will be served and there will also be a live auction during the evening. Entertainment will be provided by Richard Pell. The cost for the event is $75 per person. The Silent Auction/Dinner Dance is a major fund raising event that enables the fund to continue providing financial assistance to local families in need. Since inception in 1999 the organization has donated more than $450,000 reaching out to more than 200 local families. The Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund was founded in January of 1999. The fund was established in memory of Brian, who had recently passed away at 14 years of age after a courageous battle with brain cancer. The kindness and support that Brian and his family received during his illness inspired the Children’s Fund and its mission. The Brian Ahearn Children’s Fund is a 501(c)(3) non-profit all volunteer organization. For tickets, information, or to donate an auction item, call Jerry Gallagher at 986-2717.
