Programs for adults Identity Theft: How to Protect Yourself, Sunday, Nov. 5, 3 p.m., Highland Mills Branch. The who, what, where, why, when and how of one of the fastest growing crimes in our nation will be discussed, including how to protect yourself and what to do if you are a victim of identity theft. Call 928-6162 to register. Book discussions for adults, Tuesday, Nov. 14, 7:30-9:00 p.m., Central Valley Branch. The book to be discussed is “Prep” by Curtis Sittenfeld. It’s storyline: Lee Fiora, who leaves South Bend, Indiana for Boston’s prestigious Ault School, finds her sense of identity supremely challenged. Now, at 24, she recounts her years learning “everything I needed to know about attracting and alienating people.” Copies of the books will be available at the Central Valley Branch. Call 928-2114 to sign up. Programs for young people Kids Talk Book Club. Kids in grades 3-6 can come and share their feelings and ideas about these kid-favorite books and enjoy snacks and activities, Everyone will get to vote for the book they think should win the 2007 Three Apples Award. Registration is required. Books may be obtained at the Central Valley Branch when you register. The two remaining books are: “The Tale of Despereaux” by Kate Dicamillo, Monday, Oct. 30, 4:30-5:30 p.m., Central Valley Branch. “Holes” by Louis Sachar, Monday, Nov. 13, 4:30-5:30 p.m., Central Valley Branch. Sunday movies at the Library Kids in grades 5-9 are invited to come to the Central Valley Branch to enjoy popcorn and a movie. Space is limited, so call 928-2114 to register. “Garfield: A Tale of Two Kitties” (PG), Sunday, Nov. 19, 1 p.m. (Registration began Oct. 15.) “Cars” (PG), Sunday, Dec. 10, 1 p.m. (Registration begins Nov. 19.) YA Game Night at the Library Duct Tape Creations II On Tuesday, Nov. 7, 6:30-8 p.m., at Central Valley Branch, students in grades 6-9 can make a CD holder or purse out of colored duct tape. Bring a friend and a CD to listen to. Refreshments will be provided. Registration is required; call 928-2114 to sign up.
