Artwork of Martin Dominguez Ball on display at Village Billiards during January

WARWICK — On Friday, Jan. 6, a well-attended opening night reception at Village Billiards in Warwick was held for an exhibition by artist Martin Dominguez Ball.
The complete collection will remain on display for the duration of the month and a portion of the proceeds from the sale of artwork will go to the Warwick Valley Humane Society.
Three of his works were sold during the reception.
Born in Montevideo, Uruguay, Dominguez Ball moved to New York in the mid-1980s. He is a multidisciplinary artist with a BFA in graphic design and a MFA in interdisciplinary arts. A prolific creator, Martin's paintings, drawings and sculptures have been well-received in galleries in New York City and beyond. Additionally, he is a professional filmmaker, graphic designer and a professor of fine arts and graphic design.
"Whether working with paint and pens on a canvas, sculpting, making music or creating in digital media," said the artist, "I seek to compose imaginative and graphically appealing images that capture the essence everyday life in surprising and beautiful ways. I approach every art or design project as an opportunity to challenge myself as an artist and as a human being. I think of my art as a thought rooted in knowledge, a voice wanting to be heard, and a statement ready to be said. It is for an audience of thousands as well as an audience of one. It does not seek acceptance but a willingness to converse."
Village Billiards is located at 17 Main St.
It is open Monday through Thursday 4 p.m. to 12 a.m., Friday 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., Saturday 1 p.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 12 a.m.
