Artist to give talk on global warming on March 21
New Windsor Shawn Dell Joyce, an environmentalist and artist, will talk about global warming at the next open meeting of the Stewart Park and Reserve Coalition (SPARC), to be held at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, in the community room of the Bethlehem Presbyterian Church in New Windsor (corner of Route 94 and Jackson Avenue). Dell Joyce writes an environmental column for the Times Herald-Record. She recently was one of 200 people that participated in a training workshop with former vice-president and Al Gore, who made the 2006 film about global warming, “An Inconvenient Truth.” The SPARC program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served. SPARC recently saved 1,700 acres adjacent to Stewart Airport after a 20 year battle joined by numerous coalition groups, including the Sierra Club and the Orange County Federation of Sportsmen. Stewart State Forest now totals 6,800 acres. For more information call 564-3018, or send e-mail to sparc@frontiernet.net.
