Applewood Winery to host Mother's Day weekend workshop
Warwick Applewood Winery’s Chef Jody Weatherstone will host a second season of workshops that focus on the basics of food and wine pairing. On May 12 at 1 p.m., he invites the public to bring their mothers to try his specially prepared bites, representing all the major components of flavor, served with Applewood wines by winemaker Jonathan Hull. Have you ever wondered how to do a proper wine tasting? Or ever pondered why certain wines taste better with certain foods? Do you need to brush up on your wine language? From the small questions to the more complex, Chef Jody is ready to answer them, and show you just how easy it is to find a wine for any occasion. She is well-versed in the world of food and wine, having graduated from New York’s Institute of Culinary Education. Chef Jody also edited and contributed to the Applewood Winery Cookbook, which is updated with the Winery’s latest creations yearly. She has worked publicly and privately, and is eager to share her expertise with the community. The setting for the workshops is casual and intimate, so bring your questions. There is a fee of $25 and reservations are required, as these workshops always sell out (only 15 guests per class). All moms attending will receive a free gift. These workshops also make good birthday, anniversary, and wedding gifts. Contact Michele Hull at 988-9292 for more information or to make reservations.
