Warwick—Before the last of the foliage falls, enjoy a scenic hike up the Appalachian Trail on Saturday, Nov. 3. The Albert Wisner Public Library will sponsor a guided hike up the trail near Heaven Hill Farm. Warwick Valley High School science teacher and naturalist Edward Sattler will lead the hike. Sattler will point out and explain local geology, glaciation , micro-climates and micro-habitats. The hike will last approximately one hour in each direction and is of moderate difficulty with several short, steep sections. Participants should wear sturdy foot gear and bring water. This section of the trail leads to a rocky outcrop with beautiful views overlooking Warwick and Vernon. The meeting place will be the small Appalachian Trail parking lot on the northbound side of Route 94, just past Heaven Hill Farm. To register, call the Library at 986-1047, extension 3.
