Antique car show

The Monroe Historical Society will sponsor its second annual antique car show on Saturday, July 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the historic McGarrah’s Inn at the corner of Stage Road and Maple Avenue in the Village of Monroe. Come join us to view the many cars and trucks that will be available for inspection and to talk with their owners. If you have an antique vehicle that you would like to show, please call Holly Dean-Osser, vice president of the historical society at 220-8379. Free to the public; refreshments will be available to purchase. The fire truck is shown in its restored condition and as it appeared outside the Mombasha fire house with trucks on Stage Road (formerly South Main Street) many years ago (the remains of the second fire truck have been reportedly located in a field upstate, but that’s another story ....). The third photo, taken by Bill Todt, shows downtown Monroe circa 1920-30. (Photos provided by the Monroe Historical Society)
