An After to Remember to support St. Anthony Hospital, Warwick Historical Society

WARWICK — It’s the largest tented formal tea party ever staged in Warwick and it’s this Sunday, May 5, from noon to 4 p.m.

Now is the time to try on your high tea attire and join all the other guests for An Afternoon to Remember, a Downton Abbey-inspired high tea, sponsored by St. Anthony Community Hospital and the Warwick Historical Society. The event will be held on the picturesque lawn of Lewis Park in the Village of Warwick.

Prepare to spend a “Downton Abbey” style turn-of-the-century afternoon with festivities and a high tea based on the popular PBS television series filmed at Highclere Castle in Newbury, UK. And, if you purchase a $10 raffle ticket before or during the event, you will be eligible to win a vacation prize trip for two to England and admission to Highclere Castle. The drawing will take place Sunday afternoon.

The Afternoon to Remember begins with noon registration at the A. W. Buckbee Center followed by a grand tour of five of the historical society’s downtown museums and properties. The tour ends at the 1810 House where guests will be treated to delicious light bites and a display of clothing from the Society's Archival Collection. Then guests will join an elegant tea party on the lawn of Lewis Park.

All proceeds will benefit the hospital and the historical society.

The high tea on the lawn of Lewis Park that follows will include wine and prosecco along with an abundance of savories and sweets provided by Main Course Catering. In addition, the Warwick baking community, including Lisa's Cookies, Jean Claude Patisserie, Noble Pies, Eat Sweet Bakeshop and La Petite Cuisine, will donate sweet treats for all. And Tussie Mussies, small floral nosegays gifted during Victorian times to express various sentiments, will be given out to guests along with a presentation by Amy Sliter of Corwin's Florist.

Music during the high tea will be provided by The Vivace String Quartet, and members of the Warwick Valley High School Chamber Orchestra will also be performing at the A. W. Buckbee Center as guests arrive and register for the afternoon.

Silent auction bidding opportunities will include croquet at Glenmere Mansion, luncheons and lectures provided by Michael Bertolini, A fall foliage weekend in the Adirondacks, a visit to Ireland's ancient sacred sites, a golf outing, tea sets, paintings and treasures galore.

St. Anthony Community Hospital will also offer free health screenings in the parking lot of nearby Viviano's Restaurant, along with information on the many community and health services provided by the hospital.
