American Cancer Society's Bark for Life Walk takes place April 27 at Bear Mountain State Park

BEAR MOUNTAIN — The American Cancer Society will hold its annual Bark For Life fund raiser at Bear Mountain State Park in Stony Point on Sunday, April 27.
The walk will be led by the Rockland County Sheriffs K-9's, along with therapy dogs that work with cancer patients. These therapy dogs are part of "The Good Dog Foundation" and the "K-Nine Bandaiders" and regularly visit cancer patients in their homes and local hospitals.
Last year, the event attracted more than 500 Rockland and Orange counties dogs (and 1,500 owners).
The opening ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. and the walk will begin at 10 a.m.
In addition to the dog walk, there are other activities planned, including vendors, raffles, unique games such as "musical chairs" for dogs and a dog costume contest.
The first 500 participants will each receive a 'goodie bag" filled with special puppy gifts.
Everyone is invited to attend and pre-registration is not required.
Participants can walk with their dog(s), alone, and/or with family or friends. The cost (tax deductible donation) is $35 per dog (unlimited number of humans per dog) or $10 for a "dog-less human."
