‘America for Sale' auditions next week

    Newburgh - Auditions are scheduled for Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, June 14, 15 and 17, for roles in five plays that will make up the PEP presentation of “America for Sale” in Newburgh on Aug. 24, 25 and 26. The festival consists of five short plays reflecting the state of contemporary American political, social and cultural attitudes: “Lunch with God” by Fraser MacFarlane; “The Handicapper General,” an adaptation of the Kurt Vonnegut story by Pat Cook; “It’s Tough to be Somebody” by Lee Howard and Greg Gamble; “Song” by Bryan Tucker; and “Visiting Hours Are Over” by Pedro Juan Pietri. PEP stands for Paul Ellis Producer. He and Erin Woodward are the directors. All five plays will be performed on the same evenings with two performances on Saturday at the restaurant, It’s All Good, at 90 Broadway in Newburgh. The parts include: • Three males, 30s-40s • Three females, 30s-40s • Three males, 20s-30s • Three females, 20s, can play 18-28 • Three males, 20s, can play 18-28 Auditions are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, June 14 and 15, from 5-7:30 p.m. at the restaurant, It’s All Good, and on Saturday, June 17, from noon to 4 p.m. at Theater Row Studios Studio 6.
