Sugar Loaf — Kings Theatre Company’s Play Reading Series will start off with a star-studded bang at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, March 27, in the Lycian Centre’s Pavilion Theatre on Kings Highway in Sugar Loaf. R. L. Lane’s play “The Supper at Emmaus” will be read by an all-star cast of recent Tony award winners and nominees, including David Margulies, Denis O’Hare, Isabel Keating, and Rocco Sisto. Margulies has decades of acting credits, including films such as “Ghostbusters,” “Running on Empty,” and “Brighton Beach Memoirs.” His Broadway credits include “Wonderful Town,” “Angels in America,” and “Conversations with My Father.” He has also appeared in television shows, including “The Sopranos.” O’Hare’s Broadway credits include “Take Me Out,” with a Tony award and Drama Desk award, and “Sweet Charity,” with a Drama Desk award. His film credits include “Garden State,” and “Sweet and Lowdown.” Keating played Judy Garland in “The Boy From Oz,” a role which earned her a Tony award nomination, a Theatre World award, a Drama Desk award, a Drama League nomination, and an Outer Critics Circle award nomination. Sisto’s Broadway credits include “Amadeus” and “A Month in the Country.” He has also been seen in films such as “Donnie Brasco” and “Lorenzo’s Oil,” and has appeared in several episodes of “The Sopranos.” The playwright Lane has just recently signed with the William Morris Talent Agency because of their interest in his play. The theatre division represents a stellar roster of talent including, but not limited to, writers, composers, lyricists, directors, choreographers, actors and producers. Play readings provide audience members with a rare opportunity to actively participate in the creative process of professional play-writing. Audience members can share their opinions and thoughts with the actors and playwright during an informal wine and cheese reception following the performance. This provides the playwright with early audience feedback, as well as ideas for enhancing the play prior to production. Tickets are $20. To purchase, call the box office at 469-2287.
