All about Peru
Program to be held at 1841 Courthouse Goshen The flag of Peru is flying alongside the American flag at the 1841 Courthouse, located at 101 Main St. in Goshen, to herald an upcoming program on Peruvian cultures. Peru (officially The Republic of Peru) is in western South America, and known as the cradle of the Inca empire. The country is the home to many indigenous ethnic groups, which give it major historical and cultural standing. Guest speaker Victor Seminario was born in Lima, Peru, and is now an American citizen. After graduating high school, he joined the Peruvian Army as a paratrooper in a Special Force Unit. He was discharged with honors. He attended technical school and became a specialist in safety and personal security. He also worked as a bodyguard and supervisor in plant protection. He came to the United States in 1993. Seminario will speak on many subjects, including Peru’s history, cities, geography, military, culture, folklore, and sports. An exhibit in the 1841 Courthouse lobby will accompany the program. The program is sponsored by the county historian, Ted Sly, and is free and open to the public. For more information call 291-2388.
