    Registration is underway for these Albert Wisner Public Library’s Children’s and Tween’s virtual programs.

    Be sure to provide an email address so the library can send you Zoom links when needed (http://www.albertwisnerlibrary.org).

    Winter Reading Program

    Build a Snowman for ages 3-10.

    Pick up or download your activity sheet for our winter reading program. Whenever you do an activity on the sheet come to the children’s room to pick up a snowman part. Add that new part to your snowman on our windows. When he’s finished get an adorable stuffed polar bear!

    Beginning Jan. 4 through Feb. 19. No need to register for this program.

    Monthly look & find

    Each month we’ll hide items in the Children’s Room. Starting with stars in December, kids pick up a tally sheet at the desk then look around the room to find the items and check them off the sheet.

    Spanish together: K-grade 2

    Join Joyce Shenkman for some fun learning basic Spanish. Register beginning Dec. 19 to reserve your bag of supplies. Video released on Mondays, Feb. 1, 8, 15 and 22.

    Mason Jar Science: K-grade 3

    Using home available ingredients, do real science in a mason jar. Make clay, a balloon barometer, bend light, create crystals and grow a plant. Register beginning Dec. 19 to reserve your jars and other supplies.

    Video will be released on Wednesdays, Jan. 13, 20, 27, Feb. 3, 10.

    Dino-Mountain: Take & Make for families

    Pick up the supplies to create a dinosaur scene, including small dinosaurs. Register beginning Dec. 19 to reserve your bag of supplies. Supplies available Jan. 8.

    Kids Cake Decorating Competition: ‘Winter Wonderland’

    Two categories: K-grade 2 and 3-grade 5 with an adult.

    We’ll give you a bag of ingredients, you bake and decorate a cake with a winter theme using those ingredients. Send us a picture of your cake. We’ll post the picture and let our patrons decide which cake is the prettiest, funniest or best depiction of winter. Prizes for all bakers.

    Bake-off is Jan. 18-24. Winner announced Jan. 27.

    Valentine’s Day Butterfly Treat: K-grade 3

    Watch our video to see how to make some sweet Valentine’s Day treats. Video will be released Sat., Feb. 13. Register beginning Dec. 19 to reserve a bag of supplies.

    Feed The Birds: for families

    Help feed your backyard friends, make a bird feeder for this winter season. Register beginning Dec. 19 to reserve your craft supplies. Supplies available Friday, Jan 15.

    My Family Tree: For families.

    How did I get my name? Tell us a funny story about your family. Open a conversation about your family and fill in the family tree. We’ll also hear a story or two and talk about what a family tree is. Register Dec. 19 to reserve your supplies and watch the video beginning Saturday, March 6. Supplies will be on the children’s cart starting Friday, March 5.

    Music Makerspace: K-grade 3

    Join Mr. Matt to make and decorate some instruments, then use them to play songs. Register beginning Dec. 19 to reserve your bag of supplies. Videos released Thursday, March 4, 11 and 18. Supplies available on the children’s cart the Monday before.

    LEGO Creators Club: Ages 5-8.

    Let’s build. Five weeks, five creations. Receive blocks and instructions to build a new creation each week. Register beginning Dec. 19 to reserve your bag of supplies. Bags available each week on Thurs. Jan. 14, 21, 28, Feb. 4 and 11.

    Black History Month

    Celebrate Black History Month with a Caldecott Honor book called “Tar Beach” by Faith Ringgold. Listen to a young girls story to be free forever and go wherever she wants. There are beautiful quilts on the border of each page and we will create small squares of quilt tiles using pattern paper.

    Calling All Tweens! Videos for those 9 to 12 years old

    Jan. 12. Animal Crossing Keychain: Use Shrinky Dinks and more to create an animal crossing keychain. Register to reserve your supplies.

    Jan. 19, Online Scattergories: Can you name a breakfast cereal, sport, song, state capitol and book that start with the letter W? If so, you’re ready to play Scattergories! See who can fill in the most blanks in 2 minutes. Register to receive a Zoom link.

    Jan. 26. Art with Miss Judy: Practice Wabi-Sabi, the ancient Buddist practice of accepting things as they are and knowing there will be imperfections. Using the materials we supply and some of your own make a perfectly imperfect object. Register to reserve your supplies.

    Feb. 2. Basket Weaving: Create a beautiful cord and yarn basket. Register to reserve your bag of craft supplies.

    Feb. 9. Online Pictionary: Be the first to guess what your opponent is drawing then switch places and see who can guess what you drew. Register to receive your Zoom link.

    Feb. 16. Cooking with Miss Judy: Grill Your Cheese! Learn how to make a delicious grilled cheese sandwich. Register and receive a list of ingredients and suggested extras.

    Storytimes & Music

    Storytimes & Music do not require registration. Come one, come all! Videos will be released weekly beginning Jan. 11-Feb. 15 at 9 a.m. on the Children’s private Facebook page, and also in the weekly e-newsletters.

    Programs include: Mother Goose (0-18 months) and Toddler Time (18-36 monthos)- with Miss Stacy, Scarf Love Storytime (2-6 years) and Preschool Storytime (3-5 years) - with Miss Teresa, Music with Mr. Matt (0-36 monsths), Yoga & Mindfulness Journeys (3-5 years) - with Miss Karen and Mr. Matt, Where in Warwick is Miss Karen? (3-5 years) and Artists in Training (5-8 years) - with Miss Stacy.
