Albert Wisner Public Library celebrates Womens History Month
WARWICK Albert Wisner Public Library plans a series of events and programs to celebrate Womans History Month:
Honoring Women of Influence Library officials are asking the public for stories and images of the women who have influenced our lives.
Tell us about a woman you admire who has influenced your life. Write a short statement of 150 words or less or create a video at the library for our Youtube channel, library officials requested in the press release announcing the program.
Submissions should be dropped off at the front desk, attention Kathleen Georgalas.
Submission forms and further details are available online at www.albertwinserlibrary.org and at the Library.
Womens Work Spinning Demo A demonstration of the art of spinning by Susan Logothetis will be held Thursday, March 15, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., in honor of Womens History Month. Hand spinning thread and yarn for household use was an essential skill for every woman in colonial days. A new exhibit, Womens Work, will also be on display in the Wisner Local History Room of the library.
Open to teens and adult. This is a drop-in program, no registration required.
Third Saturday Poetry Series: Janet Hamill, March 17, 3 to 4:45 p.m.
Janet Hamill is an American poet, spoken word artist and painter. Her poem K-E-R-O-U-A-C was nominated for a Pushcart Prize, and Body of Water was nominated for the Poetry Society of Americas William Carlos Williams Prize. Join us, and the poet, for selected readings followed by an open mic. Registration available online at www.albertwisnerlibrary.org or by calling 986-1047 ext. 5.
