Afternoon Tea for moms at Boscobel
Garrison In anticipation of Mother’s Day, Boscobel has planned a special Mother’s Day Tea and Tour for Saturday, May 12. The tour, focusing on entertaining in early 1800 Hudson Valley houses, will start at 2 p.m. As part of the tour, visitors will see Boscobel’s Tea and Dessert Services, including part of an English Coalport porcelain tea service, c. 1800 and part of a service of an English “Deep blue and white Jasper cameo Wedgwood” purchased in England in 1803. A luxurious Tea will follow at 3 p.m., where a select assortment of teas, tea sandwiches, scones and pastries will be served. Tea was “born” in China over 5,000 years ago and still remains a world-favorite beverage. The genteel tradition of afternoon tea began in Britain and Holland during the 1600s. Tea became very popular in the Colonies eventually leading to the historic Boston Tea Party. Admission for the Mother’s Day Tea and Tour is $35 per person. Space is limited and tickets must be purchased in advance. Call Boscobel at 265-3638, Ext. 115, for additional information or visit www.boscobel.org. Boscobel is located on Route 9D, in Garrison.
