Actors Workshop Program offers 10-minute play workshop

SUGAR LOAF — The Actors Workshop Program is offering a 10-week workshop focusing on complete 10-minute plays. The workshop will be held at the Seligman Center at the Orange County Citizens Foundation on White Oak Drive in Sugar Loaf. Under the direction of Paul Ellis, the workshop is open to actors of all ages who are serious about their craft.
The workshop focuses on the structure of the play and the actors role in the plot and pace of the story. They will focus on the characters and their emotional relationships to each other while building on the action, pace and rhythms of the script.
"Ten-minute plays challenge the actor to develop a role and follow a play from beginning to end," said Ellis. "Each 10-minute play is a complete piece and follows the arc of the story and the development of a character to completion. The workshop allows each actor to participate in a complete role and offers multiple challenges."
The Actors Workshop Program provides actors from the Orange County region the opportunity to work on challenging roles and scripts. This workshop will focus on rehearsal and development of the plays and will culminate with the performance of a series of 10-minute plays. The evening of plays will include as many plays as the workshop members are able to present.
"It could be two or as many as 10 or 15 depending on the commitment of the actors," said Ellis. "I'm willing to work on as many as they like."
Ellis is the founder of the Air Pirates Radio Theater and has been directing acting workshops and holding classes in Orange County for the past seven years. He has been in the theater business for over 45 years.
The Ten-Minute Play Workshop begins Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. The fee is $250. For more information or to register, call 845-469-7563 or visit www.airpirateradio.com/workshops.
