MONROE - The Friends of the Monroe Free Library will host a wine-tasting event from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 1, at the library. Wine enthusiast Alan Glass, owner of Star Liquor in Monroe, will provide wines. “Alan has selected some wonderful wines and will give us a great explanation about each one,” said Alicia Vaccaro, chairperson of the event. “You’ll learn a lot about wine and become a better educated wine consumer.” Tickets are $20 per person or $35 per couple, and include appetizers and desserts. Only a limited number of tickets are available and can be purchased at the Monroe Free Library. Wine tasting guests who later purchase any of the featured wines during this charity event from Star Liquor will receive a 10 percent discount. Star Liquor will also donate 10 percent from each sale to the library. “This is a great opportunity to support the good work of the Monroe Free Library and have an enjoyable and fun evening, “ said Maria Vazquez-Doles, president of the Friends. “We are grateful to Star Liquor for its support of our event and we’re looking forward to hosting a very successful evening.” To purchase tickets, call the Monroe Free Library at 783-4411.
