A concert Frederick would have loved
Warwick Three members of the Loma Mar Quartet will perform the second concert of the season at Pacem in Terris, located at 96 Covered Bridge Road in Warwick. The concert is scheduled for 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 24. Reservations will not be taken. Tickets go on sale at 4 p.m. The suggested donation is $10. Violinists Krista Bennion Feeney and Anca Nicolau, and cellist Myron Lutzke will perform a Baroque repertoire for violins and basso continuo with guest Daniel Swenberg playing his theorbo, a bass lute. The program will feature a number of 16-century composers: Heinrich Biber, Domenico Gabrieli, Alessandro Stradella, Giovanni Viviani, Arcangelo Corelli, and Francesco Turini. “I think Frederick would have really liked this program,” said Krista Bennion Feeney, beloved friend of the late Frederick Franck, who founded Pacem in Terris. She is concertmaster of the Orchestra of St. Luke’s in New York, of which Myron Lutzke is the principal cello. They are recognized internationally as chamber musicians and soloists. Swenberg knew from the age of three he had to play the theorbo. He has also concentrated on the Baroque lute in Austria and Italy and on the Baroque guitar in Spain and Latin America. He participated in the Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and the Aspen Music Festival, accompanying Renee Fleming.
