The magic of ladybugs

On Friday, June 14, Family Central held its annual “Ladybug Picnic” fund raiser at the Pine Island town park.
It was a “just right” event for parents and kids.
With their picnic baskets and blankets, the adults got a chance to relax while their children enjoyed a variety of fun activities and participated in the excitement of seeing thousands of ladybugs released in the park’s pollinator garden.
The success of this wonderful event was made possible by the support of families who participated and the generous donations of many businesses in our community.
We’d like to express our gratitude for the help of:
• Rylex-Custom Cabinetry and Closets of Pine Island, Kids Club House, Lowland Farms, Warwick Physical Therapy, ShopRite, Track 7 Postal Center, Wadeson’s Home Center and Warwick Valley Winery & Distillery.
• Also: Scheuermann Farms Greenhouses & Garden Center, Deep Living author Susanne Meyer Fitzsimmons, Warwick Valley Financial Advisors, Bree Frameworks, Pine Island Wine & Liquors, Chosun Taekwondo Academy and children’s authors Jordan Novak and Cody Rounds.
• And a special thank you to Femi Ford for her coordination and art work, Gary Malinowski for setting up the event, Beth Nagel for handling the admission table, Melissa Shaw-Smith for managing the craft activities, Sasha and Eric Loberg for refreshments, Stacy Lawrence, owner of Greenwood Lake Garden Center, for her ladybug expertise and to all the volunteers that filled in where needed.
Family Central is an all-volunteer parenting support network for parents and caregivers of children from birth through adolescence. We welcome donations through our partnership with Community 2000, a 501c3 quality-of-life organization in Warwick since 1994.
