Thanks for the support for the 2019 Boxes For Soldiers Care Package Drive

| 04 Jul 2019 | 05:22

We would like to express our gratitude and deep appreciation for the support received during the 2019 Boxes For Soldiers Care Package Drive.
A grand total of 310 care packages were sent to military units in several different locations around the globe.
Of course, without the support of our local communities, there would be no care packages to send. Sincere thanks go to the following:
• Everyone who generously donated items for inclusion in the care packages;
• The businesses who supported the drive by serving as a collection site for donated items;
• The volunteers including Scouts, Seniors, high-schoolers and more who helped sort and pack items;
• Katie Eichenhofer and the students of Scotchtown Elementary for writing letters;
• Numerous volunteers who ran errands for supplies, food or items needed in support of our mission;
• ShopRite and Lowe’s for their donations of supplies;
• Fred DeBergh and Ramsey Outdoor Store for Para Cord;
• Guardian Storage for temporary storage;
• Mariah Fortune of The Box Guy for boxes and packing supplies;
• The Golden Floridians for their donations and for filling goodie bags; and
• The Warwick USPS for their expeditious handling of our 310 boxes.
• Special thanks go to Albert Wisner Public Library for their continued support of Boxes For Soldiers and for inviting visitors to decorate the boxes;
• Bo Kennedy for handling our cardboard recycling;
• The Monteleone family for the incredible UNFI donations;
• The Heart of the Hudson Girl Scout Council for donations of cookies to include in our care packages; and
• Grace Community Church for providing us with a wonderful, spacious location in which to work.
We are so very fortunate to live in a community where our residents value an effort such as Boxes For Soldiers and where our needs were met with open arms.
• One of the greatest needs in a care package drive is financial: shipping boxes overseas is expensive. We wish to thank everyone who donated money to the drive - every dollar helped - especially the generosity of the McGovern Caplicki team at Keller-Williams, UNFI and Tammy Washalski at Edward Jones. Your financial support as well as your encouragement made our task easier.
• Finally, we gratefully acknowledge receipt of a grant through Heroes In Deed, the foundation that honors Jaimie Leonard, a Warwick resident who paid the ultimate sacrifice in 2013.
It was truly an honor to pack our boxes in her memory.
We plan to be back in May 2020 for the sixth annual Boxes For Soldiers.
Each year momentum builds and growth occurs.
If you or your organization would like to work with us or to support us, please contact me.
Thank you, thank you, thank you to all for making Boxes For Soldiers 2019 a huge success.
Sincerely,
