'See what you think'

Having looked over a copy of the Pulpit Rock property hotel plan, I am concerned that the Rock itself is being reduced to no more than a lawn ornament.

I was heartened by the developer’s concern, reported in The Advertiser, about honoring the history of the property.

However, no local historian recalls talking with him about it and the actual plans have the Rock crowded and obscured by a row of oversized buildings.

Indeed, if his development on Spring Street is any indication of his sensitivity to space and design, this is surely the wrong site.

There must be a property closer in the Village, with sidewalks already in place, for this needed hotel.

Notice the school day traffic at West Street and County Route 1. Imagine adding a hotel with 90-parking spots.

Take a look at the plans at Town Hall or on Facebook, drive down Spring Street. Or try to walk down West Street.

    See what you think.
