Corey Bachman: 'I humbly ask for your vote'

| 29 Oct 2019 | 04:20

On this Friday before Election Day, I humbly ask for your vote for the position of Town Councilman on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

I am ready to hit the ground running and work my heart out for the great people of our township.

Over the past six months, I, along with a group of dedicated volunteers, have knocked on thousands of doors, mailed thousands of handwritten postcards and reached out to the people to hear their views, suggestions and other ways that they’d like to see our government work. This was always a grassroots campaign.

Unfortunately, I was not born in Warwick. I am not part of the tree of one of our founding families, but I love this town, my adopted hometown, and want to use my background and experience to bring everyone into the fold.

I want everyone to feel that they have a stake in what is happening - because they truly do.

I believe we need to find a balance to meet the real challenges of our near future.

I never saw myself running for office. I went full throttle into this race, pitting myself against the entrenched establishment and career politicians because I believe our representatives shouldn’t be unknown or unseen.

This conviction was stronger than any doubt I had upon entering into the (sometimes) brutal political arena. Our representatives should be honest, upfront, free-thinking and always willing to meet for a cup of coffee and hear your concerns, issues and ideas.

If I am so fortunate to be elected, I promise to keep an open mind to your ideas and proposals. And I ask of you the same thing: please keep an open mind at the polls on Tuesday.

This might be the only time to effect change - to elect people rather than a party. By doing so, you will be exercising your right to vote and, more importantly, your voice.

    Corey Bachman
