Dr. King’s contribution to the civil rights movement left an indelible mark on our nation that forever changed us. His aspirational message of unity and calling to service continues to inspire countless Americans today.
He taught generations of Americans that nothing is insurmountable, no dream is too big and no calling too great. In his everlasting words, “everyone can be great, because everyone can serve.”
While we pause today to remember his life, let us reflect on all we can do each day as Americans and New Yorkers to create a more equal, just society that gives freedom and opportunity for all.
