Warwick — Winslow Therapeutic Center has rescheduled their Ride-A-Thon and Walk-A-Thon to Sunday, Oct. 23, at Warwick County Park. Due to the weather, the scheduled ride/walk for Sunday, Oct. 9, was cancelled. The trails in the 800-acre county park will be open for horseback riding exclusively for this event. Participation will support the riding program, which helps a child who cannot walk to sit on top of a horse and ride, or an emotionally disturbed child learn to trust. Proceeds will go to the Alison Klepper Memorial Fund, a scholarship program which enables those who could not otherwise afford it to access Winslow’s mental health programs. The ride/walk will begin at 8 a.m. (for two hours) or 9 a.m. (for one hour). The minimum pledge to walk is $25, and the minimum pledge to ride is $50. Riders must bring their own horse. Lunch will be provided to all participants, music by DJ Dean, and prizes will be awarded to high fundraisers. For more information, and a pledge sheet, call 986-6686, or visit www.winslow.org.
