Warwick Valley Rotary Club to present Flags for Heroes 2019

| 03 Aug 2019 | 09:22

Once again everyone in the community can be part of a tribute to the heroes in our lives, past and present.

Flags for Heroes is being presented by Warwick Valley Rotary Club for the third consecutive year. And although the application forms mention an Aug. 1 deadline, that date has been extended to Aug. 15.

For $50 you can honor your personal hero by sponsoring a three-foot by five-foot American flag.

A hero can be ....

A hero can be in the military, a first responder, a teacher, a mentor, a family member, a neighbor or anyone who you personally believe is a hero.

The sea of flags will be waving from Sunday, Aug. 25, through Sunday, Sept. 15, on the lawn of the Chateau Hathorn restaurant at the corner of Route 94 and County Route 1.

And thanks to the generosity of Allied Excavating, the American flags will be properly lit at night.

Last year, 203 flags were flying with plaques identifying each hero and Warwick Valley Rotary would like to create another spectacular sea of flags this summer.
