Sports Fitness and Fun gymnastics teams medal at competitions
FLORIDA More than 70 Sports Fitness and Fun gymnasts, representing competitive teams in USA Gymnastics League and U.S. Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs League, successfully competed in numerous state, regional and national championships this past season. Heres a summary:
Deana Sherameta of Bloomingburg performed two perfect 10 routines on floor exercise and balance beam.
Nicole Bellettiere of Slate Hill also received a 10 on her balance beam at the Level 5 State Championships.
The USAG leagues Level 4 and Level 7 teams took home state championship titles.
Alisa Sherameta of Bloomingburg, Nicole Bellettiere of Slate Hill, Leah Levin of Monroe and Madison Yager of Middletown took first-place All-Around at the state championships, the highest honor in gymnastics, with Alisa also taking first-place All-Around at the regional championships.
The USIAGC Leagues bronze-level team took regional champion and Gold Level team took state champion against stiff competition.
Bani Chilana of Middletown, Kara VanDyk of Monroe and Sabrina Smith of Scotchtown won first place All-Around at their state championships with Bani and Kara taking regional championship victories in Wildwood, N.J.
Bani and Sabrina also walked away from the national championships with first-place titles on balance beam and vault respectively.
