WARWICK — The Warwick Valley Community Center is offering a forum on Monday, May 22, for parents, friends and allies of the LGBTQ community to share what’s on their minds in a safe and inclusive environment.
"We will provide a variety of opportunities," said organizer Bonnie Schonfeld, "to explore common concerns, challenges and triumphs through the experience of being a part of the gender and sexually diverse community."
Advocates, educators and guest speakers as well as trained staff will facilitate a series of 12 meetings, which will include workshops, films, social and recreational opportunities.
"The initial meeting will discuss who we are, what we’re looking to accomplish and what our needs are," Schonfeld added. "By advocating for social change that embraces gender diversity and human rights we can promote health and well- being for our community."
The program is sponsored by the Orange County Youth Bureau.
The meeting on Monday, May 22, runs from 7 to 8 p.m., at the Warwick Valley Community Center, 11 Hamilton Ave.
