The following is the monthly report by Lisa Bacenet, the program coordinator for the Warwick Friendly Visitor Program:

This fall the Warwick Friendly Visitor program has been as busy as ever.

We are easing back into home visits (with proper COVID precautions), as well as the wellness call and rides to and from appointments we were already doing.

One change I made while returning calls to our 172 neighbors was asking them what they are thankful this year. Each time I ask them the number one thing they are thankful for is the Warwick Friendly Visitor Program.

They are also thankful for things like their pets, kids and a roof over their head but each and every time I ask, our program makes their list for different reasons. Some are thankful they do not need to rely on or bother their children, most of whom have families of their own. Others are happy to have a friendly face to pick them up and chat with on their way to and from their appointments.

The month of October the Warwick Friendly Visitor Program received 225 calls and provided 202 services for the neighbors in the program.

If you or someone you know would like to become a volunteer, virtual training will be held via Zoom on Tuesday, Dec. 7, at 6 p.m., and Thursday, Dec. 16, at 10 a.m.
