National Night Out scheduled for Aug. 1

Warwick residents are invited to join thousands of communities nationwide for the 40th Annual “National Night Out” (NNO) crime and drug prevention event on Tuesday, Aug. 1.

The Warwick Valley Prevention Coalition and the Town of Warwick Police Department are collaborating to bring this free, family-friendly event to the community from 5: to 8 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, Forester Avenue in Warwick.

Mingle with friends and neighbors. Enjoy hot dogs cooked-up and served by the Warwick Police Department.

Adults will have the opportunity to make ID cards for children while the kids will have fun making crafts, participating in activities and climbing onto one of the many vehicles in the Touch-A-Truck area.

A special treat this year will be a performance by the Black Dirt Bandits, one of the hottest bands in the Hudson Valley’s music scene. This dynamic musically talented group perform the best new country covers and have an array of original tunes.

Many non-profits will also be participating in National Night Out, offering everyone the opportunity to learn more about their organization. The event provides an opportunity to bring local resources and residents together under positive circumstances.

Warwick. Village to begin flushing hydrants July 31

The Village of Warwick will be flushing fire hydrants starting on Monday, July 31, from approximately 7 p.m. until midnight. This will be done every evening until all the 321 or so fire hydrants are completed.

This is done during the evening to cause as little inconvenience as possible for the village residents.

“The water may be discolored but will clear up and is not harmful,” Distribution Supervisor Chris Bennett said in the press release announcing the effort. “You may also experience minor pressure problems while the fire hydrants are being flushed in your area.”

Tickets are now available for town’s annual Senior BBQ on Aug. 22

It is that time again for senior citizens in the Town of Warwick to get their tickets to the annual Senior BBQ on Tuesday, Aug. 2 (rain Date: Aug. 23).

This event is free to any senior citizen residing in the Town of Warwick, thanks to the generous donations of so many community service organizations, Veterans’ groups, the Warwick Valley Rotary and the support of many volunteers.

Seniors will be served hot dogs for lunch and then a complete chicken dinner.

A fun-filled day kicks off at 11 a.m. at the Town Park on Union Corners Road.

Stop by the Supervisor’s Office to pick up your ticket, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
