Anthony Abbatine, a 2017 graduate of Warwick Valley High School, will be playing baseball for the Windy City Thunderbolts this spring. The Thunderbolts are a professional minor league baseball team in Crestwood, Illinois and a member of the MLB Frontier League. This 2024 rookie signed as a free agent on December 11 after spending the previous summer in the MLB Draft League for the Trenton Thunder, which drew the attention of MLB scouts.

He also previously played baseball for St. Peter’s University, where he achieved a batting average of .310 during his senior season. He also had 30 RBIs and eight stolen bases in 44 games. His overall batting average while playing at St. Peter’s was .273. When he played at Orange County Community College, he had a batting average of .272 over 59 games.

“Every young player dreams of playing in the big leagues one day,” said Abbatine. “This is my chance to continue to play and, hopefully, get to the ‘bigs’ one day.”

He will be playing with the Thunderbolts as an outfielder.
