Voters approve Florida Public Library's proposed $443,940 tax levy by a 4-1 margin

    FLORIDA — The Florida Public Library's proposed tax levy of $443,940 for 2017-18 was approved by voters 101-24 on Thursday, April 6.
    The library's total budget for the year will be $497,640.
    Incumbent trustees William Kelemen and Nancy Scott were re-elected to three-year terms with 117 and 116 votes, respectively.
    Newcomer Lee Maas was elected to fill one year of an unexpired term with 109 votes.
    Trustees will be sworn in at the annual meeting in July.
    The public is invited to attend board meetings, held on the first Monday of the month at 7:30 p.m.
