Sugar Loaf United Methodist Church appoints the Rev. Michael Barry Jr. as pastor

The Rev. Michael Barry Jr. has been appointed to the Sugar Loaf United Methodist Church. He began his ministry in Sugar Loaf on Sept. 1.

Barry was born in Warwick in 1971. He graduated in 2010 from SUNY-Empire State with a BS in Cultural Studies, majoring in religious studies with a minor in technology and in 2014 he completed the Master of Divinity program, graduating with Honors in Preaching and Homiletics, from Drew Theological Seminary.

Barry also served 21 years in the United States Air Force, having retired as Master Sergeant in 2011.

The pastor and his wife, Kelley, have two children, Matthew 23, and Jennifer 21. He is an avid golfer, loves the outdoors and is a talented musician.

Worship services are held each Sunday at 9 a.m.
