The Warwick Valley High School Drama Club will present its first-ever virtual musical the weekend of Friday, April 30, through 8 p.m. on Sunday, May 2.

Jason Robert Brown’s “Songs for a New World,” a dynamic and poignant contemporary American musical about life’s everyday events, has been beautifully captured on video for streaming that weekend.

Videotaped in the high school’s television studio, the cast, comprised of more than 30 students, will present the show’s 15 songs along with accompanying narration in a virtual format.

The video makes use of multiple camera angles, green screening and digital backgrounds, while still remaining faithful to a live theatrical production’s use of sets, props and costumes.

“This has been an incredible undertaking during a difficult time, but the creative team, the students and I are excited to present this production to the Warwick community,” said Nick DiLeo, the club’s advisor and show’s director. “It has truly been a rewarding experience for all involved.”

The production will be streamed via the online website Showtix4U from 12 p.m. on Friday, April 30, through 8 p.m., on Sunday, May 3.

The cost for an all-access pass to view the production is $25 and the link to view the show can be found on the WVCSD website.

The community has always been supportive of the Drama Club over the years, and they are asking everyone to purchase tickets this year more than any other year to help support the club after last year’s limited attendance.
