Before classes begin on Sept. 5, Florida Union Free School District community members will have an opportunity to meet the new Golden Hill Elementary School principal and have a second opportunity to speak with the district’s new superintendent.

Golden Hill Elementary school principal

Starla Ciarelli joined Florida as its 2023 summer school principal and took over the role of Golden Hill Elementary School principal on Aug. 7.

There will be two events welcoming her to the school community.

The first will be an informal meet and greet for parents and community members from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22, in the elementary cafeteria. All families are welcome to attend.

The following day, Aug. 23, students will get a chance to have “Popcorn with the Principal.”

Pre-kindergartners and their families are invited from 10 to 11 a.m., with kindergartners through second graders from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and closing with third through fifth graders from 1 to 2 p.m. Adults must remain with their children during the event.

For more information on either of these events, call the main office at 845-651-3095.

Superintendent

The Coffee & Conversations with Dr. Lisamarie Spindler series will continue from 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 24, in the S.S. Seward Institute cafetorium.

Members of the community are invited to meet the new superintendent, who began working in Florida on July 1.

The informal meetings allow the superintendent to gather feedback and thoughts on what is most important: students’ education and wellbeing.

It will also serve as a chance for the superintendent to meet the families and community members of the district.

For more information about the superintendent’s event, please call 845-651-3095, ext. 40011, or email harena@floridaufsd.org.
