On April 22, Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties hosted its Annual Gala, honoring Daniel Grady, retired, President and CEO, for his 34 years of dedication and leadership, at West Hills Country Club, in Middletown.

This year’s co-chairs were Janet Sullivan and Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties board member Lauren Rowley.

Dan Grady was the President and CEO of Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties since its inception 34 years ago, through Dec. 31, 2022. Over the past 34 years, Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties has had the privilege to care for over 27,000 patients and their families, providing a total more than 1.3 million days of Hospice care.

Saturday evening’s festivities attracted more than 200 guests from Orange and Sullivan Counties and included a short program recognizing Grady for his commitment to the organization, dinner, dancing, a silent auction and 50/50 raffle.

“What Dan started as primarily a volunteer-driven, grassroots movement,” said current President and CEO Sandra Cassese, “is now an integrated part of our nation’s healthcare delivery system.”

The event is Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties largest fundraiser of the year. The Hospice benefit, covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial Insurance, covers only a portion of what it costs Hospice to operate. Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties relies on donations, grants, and the support of the community to help close that gap every year.

Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties has been providing compassionate end-of-life care to patients and their families since 1981. The organization is certified by the NYS Department of Health and The Joint Commission. Its mission is to be the leading community resource for providing patients and their families with compassionate physical, emotional, and spiritual end-of-life care, with comfort, dignity, and respect.
