Rev. James W. Erwin (“Father Jim”) of Christ Church in Warwick has been called to serve as rector of St. Ann’s Church in Bridgehampton.

His last Sunday serving at Christ Church will be Sunday, Dec. 29.

During his seven year tenure at Christ Church, Father Jim led the conversion of an outdoor courtyard into a summertime worship space and guided the renovation of the church’s sacristy.

His legacy is most visible in the renovation of the Parish House and Parish Hall, following a successful capital campaign by parishioners, and in the expansion of the free Saturday Community Breakfast from once a month to weekly.

The congregation will celebrate Fr. Jim’s ministry at a Farewell Open House in the Parish Hall, 48 South St., on Saturday, Dec. 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. Any member of the Warwick community who has become friendly with Fr. Jim is welcome to stop by to wish him well.

The Episcopal Diocese of New York, based at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, will work with the Vestry of Christ Church to call an interim rector who will serve at the church while it conducts a nationwide search for a new rector. The search process, to be led by a Search Committee, is expected to take 12 to 15 months.
