Chester. Butterfly Bags for foster children in need of donations

| 10 Aug 2021 | 08:29

The Butterfly Bags program provides backpacks and comfort items to children being placed in foster care throughout Orange County.

The backpacks are to replace the trash bags that they are typically given to pack some belongings. The bags also contain a variety of supplies to give them some comfort in a time of need and vulnerability.

Provisions currently needed, for children ages newborn through teens, are backpacks, stuffed animals, small throw blankets, baby blankets, baby clothes, pajamas, T-shirts, socks, hairbrushes, toothbrushes, books, coloring books, crayons, notebooks, pens and pencils. All donated items must be new.

Collection sites are at Guardian Storage of Warwick and Chester. Also needed is help covering the cost of storage.

Amber Vitoulis earned her Girl Scout Silver Award for starting this project in 2018 and, with her family, continues this worthwhile endeavor.
