At Applefest's 31st anniversary festival on Sunday, Oct. 6, the traditional apple pie baking contest celebrated the bountiful apple harvest in our area.

And at the popular apple pie eating contests, the large crowd cheered on the contestants. Coordinated by Leslie Noble and Tom Herman of Noble Pies in Warwick, this family event has separate contests for adults and kids.

“We always have such a great time with the all the kids and adults," Leslie Noble said. "And spectators cheering everyone on makes it that much more exciting."

The pie eating contest involves eating an apple pie in a 10-minute time limit, with no hands allowed. Adult contestants are required to hold their hands behind their backs and eat a 9” pie, and the contest for children includes a smaller 6” pie.

Contestants and spectators alike enjoyed the fun! The winner of each contest received a certificate good for a free pie per month, for three months, courtesy of Noble Pies.

Each year, proceeds from the contests are donated to the Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry. This year, $150 will be donated.
