The mission of the Village Childcare Services, 95 King's Highway (directly behind Good Shepherd Church) is to engage in high quality, purposeful and meaningful learning for preschool children, full or part time, in conjunction with before and after school care, holiday camp and summer camp programs.

On Friday, Aug. 16, Town of Warwick Supervisor Michael Sweeton and members of the Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce joined Director Etta Hamilton, her husband John, associates. friends, parents and children to celebrate the grand opening of the new preschool with a ribbon cutting.

Hamilton, or "Miss Etta" as she is affectionately called, was born and raised in Warwick.

She earned a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Administration and has provided care for many families at her in-home daycare 18 years.

And in April she opened The Village Childcare Services with a program designed to provide an effective instructional environment for development and to value and accept the culture of the individual child with support and respect.

Hamilton explained that the Village would educate effectively through a play-oriented curriculum, which will prepare them to thrive, develop and excel through out their academic years.

"Our goal," she said, "is that every child of The Village Childcare will know before they go. This means along with you, we consider your child's unique learning curve and apply lessons and activities that interest, engage, and educate them so that they are prepared with the skills and knowledge they will need to start kindergarten."

The Village Childcare hours are 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday to Friday.
